I was really pleased with your responses re: research questions at the end of the second day of class. They have set a high bar for what I expect.

These are my expectations for your first proposal assignment:

• posted to your google doc on time
• grant me access to view and edit it on time
• include a research question that is:
  • specific
  • related to an important debate in the field
  • a how or why question
  • open-ended ie not a yes / no question
  • previously unasked
  • debatable or contested
  • long

I will ask you to rewrite research questions (not the whole proposal!) that don’t meet these criteria. I won’t accept work that is late or that doesn’t give me access to view it.
